Recent persistent rains have now pushed most of the wheat and barley growing
areas into the “high” or “medium” risk zone for head scab across PA.
While most wheat in southern PA is not quite headed out, be sure to check
frequently as warmer weather forecast for next week may begin to push faster
growth. Much of the barley in southern PA has headed and may be flowering
now, so if you get a window to spray, even if you feel like you may be late,
you should take it. The plants should be dry when you make your application,
but a shower soon after application probably won’t wash much, if any,
product off.
