Dear FHB Community,

We were recently notified of this call for papers for a new Fusarium focused
special issue in Plant Breeding and wanted to notify you of this
opportunity.

<https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/plbr> Plant Breeding Call for Papers:
Special Issue
Breeding and breeding research for resistance to Fusarium diseases in
cereals

Fusarium species frequently cause considerable damage to crop plants.
Fusarium infection may occur at all growth stages and all organs of cereals
including maize. Notably, seedling blight, foot and crown (stalk) rot, and
head (ear) blight are of concern not only because of yield losses but also
because of mycotoxin contamination, threatening food and feed safety.
Sustainable control of Fusarium diseases in crops demands integrated
strategies, among which the deployment of resistant cultivars is a
cornerstone. However, breeding for resistance to the Fusarium disease
complex is demanding. It requires suitable germplasm and efficient selection
strategies, as well as continuous long-term investment by breeders.

This special issue will be devoted to state-of-the-art contributions on
breeding research and applied plant improvement covering all topics in the
broader field of resistance to Fusarium species including their mycotoxins
with a focus on cereals by phenotypic, molecular and biotechnology
techniques.

Both reviews and original research are welcome. For proposed reviews we are
calling for the submission of abstracts as soon as possible from which
invitations will be confirmed. Please contact one of the Guest Editors no
later than 30th April 2022.

Deadline for submission of abstracts of proposed reviews: 30 April 2022

Deadline for submission of completed reviews and original research: 31 July
2022
