FHB Colleagues,

We hope everyone is doing well. We wanted to make you aware of our February Featured Researcher, Dr. Jose Costa <https://scabusa.org/featured-researcher-bio/Jose-Costa>. 

Dr. Costa recently retired from the USDA-ARS. While there, he served as the USDA-ARS Crop Production and Protection National Programs Leader, ARS PI for the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative for 8 years. In addition, Costa is the former University of Maryland soft winter wheat breeder and a USWBSI PI for 22 years. One of Costa’s most memorable projects is introducing FHB resistance from the Chinese variety ’Ning7840’, which carried the Fhb1 gene, into adapted soft winter wheat germplasm.
