[Fhb-update_ma] FHB Update from MD, 04/30/12

FHB Updates - Mid Atlantic SWW Region fhb-update_ma at scabusa.org

The FHB risk continues to be very low in Maryland in spite of the recent rainfall. Most fields are now at or near flower. Echoing the disease status of many nearby states, late infections of barley yellow dwarf are evident in many fields. Leaf rust is also present in leaf rust-susceptible varieties that were not treated with a fungicide. Stripe rust is not yet present but could make an appearance due to spore sources within striking distance and storm systems that passed through the region. Frost damage has also been noted.
