Wheat in the central portions of the state will be at heading and flowering stages of growth this week. Wheat is most vulnerable to Fusarium head blight during flowering and the early stages of grain development. The risk map currently indicates a low risk of severe Fusarium head blight with 24-72 hour weather forecasts indicating the risk of disease is likely to stay low for the several days. Rain and cooler temperatures are predicted for the end of the week. North central Kansas should be watching their risk during this time frame.
