[fhb] USWBSI Update - 2021 Drought Conditions Minimize FHB Impact Across the U.S.

FHB Colleagues,

 

As you may be aware, the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative (USWBSI)
publishes an annual article on the impact of Fusarium Head Blight in the
U.S. This article has been released since 2010 to provide insight into the
experiences that small grains growers had with FHB during the most recent
growing season.

pleased to announce the publishing of its 2021
<https://scabusa.org/fhb-disease-impact-updates> Fusarium Head Blight
Disease Impact Update. This year commentary from experts in 32 states
indicated most growers dealt with drought conditions during the season
causing reduced yields and test weights. While the drought conditions
minimized the impact of FHB across most of the U.S. a few isolated
occurrences were found in some states. Major cases of FHB, however, were
reported from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

 

The Fusarium Head Blight Disease Impact Article has been re-envisioned this
year to provide an annual report of the crop growing conditions as well as
the impact of FHB on wheat and barley in different regions of the United
States. Additionally, photos from the different growing regions have been
included to highlight specific crop conditions.

 

We are excited to expand this article, make sure to check it out and see
what growers in other states experienced this season.
