10/26/17

Deadline for receipt of nominations: Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Dear Colleagues:

The purpose of this communication is to solicit nominations for vacancies
(i.e. members whose term is expiring at the end of 2017) on the Steering
Committee (SC) of the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative (USWBSI).
Anyone receiving this message may nominate someone for consideration.
Details of the policies and procedures (P&P) governing the filling of
Steering Committee vacancies, along with the responsibilities of steering
committee members, can be found in section IV,A (see:
https://www.scabusa.org/pdfs/scab_policies.pdf) of the USWBSI Policies &
Procedures.

As indicated in the USWBSI's Policies and Procedures, areas may have up to
five representatives and a total maximum of 38 members may serve at one
time. To view the current make-up of the Steering Committee including the
year members' terms expire, please go to
https://scabusa.org/pdfs/sc_members.pdf. There will be six seats available
for open nomination for the Steering Committee for 4-year terms beginning
1/1/18.

The targeted composition of the USWBSI Steering Committee is designed to
provide representation to all of the research and commercial sectors
impacted by scab. Below is a list of the areas of representation for the
Steering Committee where there will be minimal or no representation after
2017 terms expire:

- Growers - Durum

- Growers - Wheat

- Crop Protection

- Food Industry

- Pasta Industry

- Pathology - Wheat

If you would like to nominate someone for election to the USWBSI Steering
Committee, please submit their name, the area they would be representing
(refer to list above), and a short biographical sketch (one page) on the
nominee. You will also need to submit confirmation of the nominee's
acceptance of the nomination, as well as indication that they have read and
agreed to carry-out the duties and responsibilities described in the
USWBSI's Policies and Procedures. All this should be sent to the Networking
and Facilitation Office (NFO) no later than Tuesday, November 21. Current
members of the SC will then vote on the nominees.

Please do not hesitate to contact the NFO if you have any questions or
concerns.

Regards,

Sue
