Most wheat in DE and the Eastern parts of MD is entering the flag leaf stage
or did so last week. Be aware that stripe rust has been detected in Eastern
MD and Sussex, and Newcastle counties at low levels, but persistent wet,
cool conditions may favor spread in susceptible varieties. Growers who plan
on applying fungicide to protect the flag leaf from foliar diseases such as
stripe rust, leaf blotches, or powdery mildew should avoid applications with
fungicides containing a QOI (Group 11 Active ingredient) if applying later
than FGS 8. University trials indicate that applications of fungicides
containing QOI's (including premixes) after FGS 8 may elevate DON in grain
if infected with the FHB pathogen at flowering. For regional information on
