Wheat in most areas of Kansas are now past flowering when the crop is most
vulnerable to infection by the Fusarium fungus. In southern Kansas, the
wheat is at the late milk and dough stages of kernel development when the
symptoms of Fusarium head blight become evident. Some preliminary reports
indicate that the disease is present at low levels in some fields. Growers
should be monitoring for signs of disease over the next 7-10 days.
