The winter wheat models are showing an area of moderate risk for central and
northeastern Kansas. Many fields in south central and central regions of the
state are already past flowering and at the milk and early dough stage of
kernel development. These later stages of kernel development are less
vulnerable for infection by Fusarium. Some fields in north central and
northeastern Kansas may be at risk for infection. Fields that are at
flowering or within the 30 day pre-harvest interval may benefit from an
application of triazole fungicide such as Prosaro or Caramba. Products
containing strobilurin fungicides should be avoided.
