The wheat southern Kansas is now in the milk stages of development. The crop
is at early stages of grain fill in the North central and Northwest;
although a few late fields may still be flowering. The dry conditions have
dominated the growing season in KS this year; however, a few areas of
moderate risk have developed in central KS this week. Fortunately, the wheat
is this area of the state should be well past the flowering stages of growth
that are most vulnerable to the disease. I think the risk of severe Fusarium
head blight remains low based on dry conditions preceding this period of
favorable weather and the advanced stage of the crop.
