There are a few small areas of moderate risk that have developed in Eastern
KS the past two days. Most wheat in the southeastern part of the state has
already flowered and should be past the peak period of risk for Fusarium
infection. Some fields in the east central portion of KS, however, are still
heading this week based on reports from Doug Shoup the Southeast area
agronomist for Kansas State University. Growers should be watching the risk
of FHB carefully as additional rains this week may continue to increase the
risk of severe disease in this area of the state.
