Dry conditions have been the dominant weather pattern in central and western of Kansas so far in May and the prediction models are indicating a low risk of severe Fusarium head blight (FHB) in Kansas this year. Recent rains in north central and northeastern Kansas; however, may increase the risk of disease slightly for these regions. Wheat in these areas is now heading and will likely flowering in the next 7 days. The risk of disease should remain low as the current weather system moves out of the state.
