[Fhb-update_cgp] FHB Update from KS, 05/10/11

FHB Update - Central GP, Hard Winter Wheat fhb-update_cgp at scabusa.org

The risk of Fusarium head blight is low throughout Kansas. Conditions remain hot and dry with most areas of the state under considerable drought stress. Wheat fields in central Kansas will be flowering or are just past flowering this week. The wheat in northeast, and north central Kansas ranges between the boot and heading stages of growth. There is the possibility of rain during the next few days as the current hot weather moves out of the region. We will need to watch the potential impact of this system on the disease risk, but at the current time I expect the risk of severe FHB to remain low.
