The wheat crop in Kansas is now at the jointing stages of growth in many areas of the state. Some fields in southeast Kansas; however, are now at flag leaf emergence suggesting that the crop in this region will be most vulnerable to Fusarium head blight in approximately 10 to 14 days. The risk maps are currently showing low risk throughout Kansas, but it is still too early to evaluate the risk of head blight in most areas of the state.
