Dear FHB Community,

All graduate students and post-docs are invited to the next USWBSI ScabNet virtual Early Career Meetup on March 29, 2022, 6 p.m. E.T. | 5 p.m. C.T. | 4 p.m. MT | 3 p.m. P.T. This months meetup features four industry professionals in a variety of positions. Please see the attached flyer for more details on our professionals. Registration <https://umn.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwpd-itqj4vE9DyPdHkmTr9UkSb7261OZYh> is required by March 23.

ScabNet is a newly formed USWBSI network of graduate students and post-docs formed from the outcome of the Early Career Meetup at the 2021 NFHB Forum whose goal is to provide educational, career, and social opportunities for those in FHB research and beyond. With the current global environment, there are fewer opportunities for these individuals to interact with other members of their field. These limitations can result in students and post-docs lacking in their understanding of career trajectories and connection with more established members of the scientific community. The focus of ScabNet is to bring together the current generation of graduate students and post-docs with other members of this community to provide information on relevant topics.

Post-docs and graduated students are invited to join the ScabNet Slack <https://join.slack.com/t/uswheatandbar-szm8504/shared_invite/zt-14xi1vt5y-Nh~Ure5oUFG48sCZjPv0Dw> workspace to personally communication with others on important topics ranging from job postings and career development to interesting research articles. Additionally, we have created a mailing ListServe <https://scabusa.org/scripts/maillists/listserv.php?mlID=4> for graduate students and post-docs to receive the most up to date information on upcoming ScabNet events.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to co-organizers Peter Oppenheimer <mailto:pjoppenh at ncsu.edu> and Lovepreet Singh <mailto:lps1699 at terpmail.umd.edu>.

Please forward this message to any graduate students or post-docs you may know who may not have received this message but would benefit from it.

Warm regards,
Amber
