To the USWBSI Community,

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing on April 29th of our colleague and friend, Herb Ohm. Herb was an active member of the USWBSI community until his retirement in 2014 from Purdue University, where he led the wheat and oat plant breeding program. Herb’s wheat breeding program was successful in incorporating Fusarium head blight resistance along with resistance to other diseases in soft red winter wheats, and in expanding marker assisted selection as an integral part of the breeding program.

A link to Herb’s obituary is below. At the bottom of the obituary page is a Zoom link for the private funeral service, which is proceeded by a photo slide show that begins playing at 4:30 PM CDT / 5:30 PM EDT; service begins at 5:00 CT/ 6:00 ET.
