USWBSI FY22 Electronic Pre-Proposal Submission (EPS) System Now Open

Dear FHB Community,

The  <https://scabusa.org/EPS/> USWBSI Electronic Pre-Proposal Submission
(EPS) System is now open and accepting submissions for all Letter of Intent
(LOI) accepted projects for Categories 1, 2 and 4 and for pre-proposals in
Category 3. Submission of Pre-Proposals in all Categories are due by
September 21, 2021 via the USWBSI EPS System. 

The enhanced online EPS submission process allows you to start a submission
and return at different times to update before final submission. (To start a
submission only requires your contact information, title of pre-proposal and
research category be complete, return as needed with other details).

Commodity-based and VDHR-Uniform Nursery Coordinated Projects*

*        <https://scabusa.org/research_rfp-fy22/Cat2> Category 2 - FHB
Integrated Management Coordinated Project*

*        <https://scabusa.org/research_rfp-fy22/Cat3> Category 3 - Research
Area Individual Project Pre-Proposals

o   FHB Management (MGMT)

o   Food Safety and Toxicology (FST)

o   Gene Discovery and Engineering Resistance (GDER)

o   Pathogen Biology and Genetics (PBG)

o   Other - Pre-proposals that do not fit into a specific research area or
coordinated project may also be submitted in this Category

Transformational Science Project Pre-Proposals*

*Pre-proposals for Categories 1, 2 and 4 require approval of a Letter of
Intent (LOI), only submit to these categories if you received approval.
Category 3 is open for pre-proposals, no LOI was required.

Keep in mind, several new elements have been incorporated into the USWBSI
RFP this year:

*       Extended Project Term. PIs now have the option to submit
pre-proposals with either a 4-year or 2-year project term.

*       Changed Tracking of Estimated Numbers of Deoxynivalenol Samples.
Deoxynivalenol (DON) sample number estimates are no longer required in
pre-proposals; funded PIs will be surveyed by the DON Lab Coordinators
annually for sample number estimates. Newly funded PIs will be contacted by
the NFO to determine the laboratory to which you will submit samples for
mycotoxin analyses.

*       Excel-based Budget Justification Worksheet & Budget Summary
Template. An Excel template with built-in formulas, space for PI's
justification narrative, and auto-generation of the budget summary page is
provided for all pre-proposal submissions.

*       Updated FAQs. There are several new items that have been added to
the  <https://scabusa.org/rfp/FY22_RFP_FAQ.pdf> Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) section, make sure to review along with the Category instructions
before starting your submission.

Foundational to USWBSI's funding, the proposed research should be based on
the  <https://scabusa.org/rfp/FY22_RFP_PDRP.pdf> FY22 Program Descriptions
and Research Priorities derived from the goals of the
<https://scabusa.org/about#action-plan> USWBSI's Action Plan which is
focused on greater collaboration and communication, and more rapid
attainment of the USWBSI's mission "To enhance food safety and supply by
reducing the impact of Fusarium Head Blight (scab) on wheat and barley."
